Disco Ball Glam Party (Disco Series: Part I)

This photoshoot is one I have wanted to do for a long time! I have a long list of dream shoots I want to do for my personal work that allow me to explore different ideas, themes, visions, and technical skills. For these shoots I always work with subjects who are comfortable in front of a camera, because it allows me the freedom to focus on other technical aspects of the shoot instead of step-by-step posing as I provide my clients in regular shoots. I was thrilled when Ruby expressed interest in modeling for this shoot because I envisioned a subject with dark hair contrasted against the reflections from the disco ball.
I originally envisioned this shoot in two parts: Studio Sparkle, and the Rooftop in Natural Light. In editing this shoot, I realized it is a three part series: I) Downtown Golden Hour, II) Disco Pool Party & III) Studio Disco. What I have here is the Downtown Golden Hour!
Shot on a rooftop of East Village, this photoshoot captures golden hour with the vibrant dreamy light you only find in the fall. This light floods the shots reflecting off of various surfaces, and textures: sparkly jewelry and sunglasses, a sequin jacket, silk dress, and - of course - disco balls!
