Brizo Marina del Rey: Food Photography
Back when I lived in San Francisco I had the pleasure of working with two food bloggers which gave me the opportunity to learn food photography, which was such a blast! Also, you get to try the food after, so, yeah, I was signed right up!
Fast forward to living to San Diego, I was so excited to “level up” (as they say!) when Brizo Marina del Rey asked me to photograph their menu! A waterfront restaurant (/hotel - if you’re ever in Marina del Rey, 5 out of 5 would recommend the Courtyard Marriott! This is actually the nicest Marriott ever), and I get to try an entire menu! (Confession: I did not actually try the entire menu because I got really full - but I sure tried!)
Due to the number of items on the menu, this was a full day photoshoot. I came into the shoot with a detailed list with visual inspiration of how to plate and design the menu items selected, and met with the head chef to review. This is where the real magic happened! We forget that chefs are artists, too! In a typical busy day, the priority falls to getting orders plated and to the customers efficiently. But today! Today! We got to make art! It was so fun to collaborate together and create some amazing plates!
Enjoy this sample of the items I shot from Brizo’s extraordinary menu and add it to your list! I would make the trip up there just to eat here again! The seafood tower is unreal! (But also the lobster roll, the burger, the carrot cake and literally every thing you see)
